well...I'm still being lazy...but at least I started making those beads my aunt asked me to make...
it's just frustrating that I'm not making more...
how do you make lentil beads? big ones...like, at least one cm diameter

What artist?
Actually, I'm a little bit of a frustrated artist...I don't think I'm creative enough.
So I thought I'd make this blog, maybe to help me see how I'm doing, sort of motivate me...or maybe some one would read this and how I'm doing and make some comments, some suggestions, give some tips, encouragement, or something.
Right now I'm trying to be a polymer clay artist. I also try to use air dry clay, which I'm kinda having a more difficult time using, since it gets hard quickly and I tended to knead the clay a lot because I'm more used to polymer clay (which you have to condition first).
How I got started with this craft
I'm into miniatures. I find them cute. ^_^
A few years back (2005-2006), I discovered Rement toys. Rement Toys are Japanese capsule toys with different designs and themes in different series. They come in little boxes with pictures of different sets in the series. When you buy a box, you wouldn't know which you're getting. So you just have to keep on buying (budget permitting) until you get the set you want, or not.
It's pretty expensive. It went somewhere 30+ RMB a box in Shanghai during that time (2005-2006).
I found some in Toys R'Us Hong Kong at 20+ HKD in 2006, and some at a little less than 20 HKD in Jusco. When I got stuck in Hong Kong because of a storm, I hang out in Jusco and bought several boxes. I'd buy one or two, open them, and go back for more until I got the one I wanted. Waste of money, yes, a bit, especially since I got the same set 3x.
In 2007, somebody told me about HLJ.com (hobby Link Japan). It's an online website based in Japan where you can order whole set of Rement toys. You pay somewhere US$20-40 (depending on which series) and get the whole set, with no repeats! Although there's shipping and taxes to consider, it's cheaper than buying them one by one. HLJ.com is also where I learned that Megahouse and Bandai also sell miniatures :-D
Because there's a couple of series that are out-of-stock or phased-out in HLJ, I looked for other sites that sell whole series of these toys. I found Angolz.com of HK and TokyoFantasy.com of Singapore. They're a bit more expensive than HLJ but at least they have the older series that are not available anymore in HLJ, plus, Angolz have individual photos of each set, so you get a closer look of what you're gonna get.
Around the same time, I was also shopping and looking thru several Multiply sites that sells stuff. And then I found some that sells polymer clay accessories of mini donuts, ice cream, cakes, sweets, etc. And then somebody offered polymer clay workshops. The only problem was the schedule. Since I'm a cabin crew, I have a different kind of schedule. I don't have regular weekends. So even though the workshops were scheduled during weekends, I couldn't join them coz I'd have flights.
Finally, on August 2008, I was able to join a Basic Polymer Clay workshop by Claylettes.multiply.com! I'm gonna be making my own miniatures! Claylettes eventually made another site: http://claylettesworkshop.multiply.com/ for her workshops.
And that's what got me started with polymer clay...
